On a date night recommendation from our sever at Burger Bach a few weeks ago, we decided to grab a bite at Carytown’s, Portrait House. Directly across Cary from The Byrd Theater, easy side parking with a large outdoor patio (great view of Carytown and The Byrd).
Portrait House serves a hearty portion of house ground burgers with all the fixings and sides, wood fired pizzas along with a nice selection of craft beers on draft. Warm and cozy with plenty of seating both at the bar and table side. We were greeted promptly by an etherial little hostess with silver shoes. I am trying to convince myself that I, too, can pull those off. Attentive staff fielded a few menu questions and provided great service.
Simple and straightforward, the menu seems to be focusing on the quality of ingredients and flavors.
Delivering on all points were both the Patsy Cline (house ground burger) and the French Quarter (wood fired pizza). With an affinity for local brews, we were pleased with the draft selection to complement our meal. Most of the local breweries were represented on tap.
Surrounded by lots of old hardwood and some fantastic portraits we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our experience.
